The 2001 World Series was a downright poignant one. It was the 1998, 1999 and 2000 World Series three-peat Champions vs the Arizona Diamondbacks. The series was played toward the end of October and in to November due to the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. The series was called quite possibly the greatest series ever, which came to a nail biter right to the end of the 9th inning on the 7th game. Luis Gonzalez hit the game winning single for the one and only pennant win for the D-Backs to date and the rest is history.
